SEO Is Not Instant Coffee

Small business owners who are new to the business of search engine optimization often get the idea that they will see instant results. If you do all the right things or hire the right people, you’ll see instant results. Right?

No. Sorry to say, that’s not right.

You have to give it time. SEO is not like instant coffee. You can’t just pour hot water into a cup, stir it around, and watch your website rise in the rankings. You need a strategy.

Take some time to learn the signals the search engines are looking for. Today’s search algorithms are very complicated (and they’re getting more complicated all the time). SEO is not about getting all the best links you can get from all the best websites. It’s also not about making sure you use the right keywords in the right places. It’s about producing great content that people like to read. And, yes, you can use keywords and links to get the job done, but those things themselves are not the chief drivers of SEO.

Quality content is the chief driver of SEO.

When you’re ready to get serious about search engine optimization, you’ll be patient. It isn’t an overnight process. A good SEO campaign will take 3-6 months at least, but it depends on the level of competition in your niche.
